This good man continues his efforts to free gay IndiaPrince from 19c British criminal laws that forbid LGBT acts. It is an uphill battle since the Indian Supreme Court re-criminalized gay activity in 2013. (It was decriminalized in 2009 by the Delhi High Court, a regional court.) “The Supreme Court held that only Parliament had the power to change that law. There is almost no chance that Parliament will act where the Supreme Court did not, advocates and opponents of the law agreed.”
So gay rights progress is stuck in political muck with no apparent way out of the legalistic logjam. A very sad state of affairs for a progressive country whose young people want to more forward away from the blindness and prejudice of colonial history.
